Net Zero Carbon Cities

Localizing net zero

Cities are the frontline in tackling climate change – representing both the biggest challenge and opportunity to keep warming well below 2°C. Currently, more than half of the global population live in cities, consuming 78% of the world’s primary energy. generating more than 70% of global carbon emissions.

By 2050, over two-thirds of the world population are set to live in cities. Changes need to happen now to reduce emissions and deliver resilient and equitable urban ecosystems.

The mission is to catalyze urban decarbonization and resilience by shining light on energy efficiency, clean electrification and resource circularity solutions. The program aims to do this by fostering public private collaboration to bridge the gap across the energy, built environment and transport sectors.
